Epic Games Hacked and 190 GB of Data Stolen, Is Fortnite at Risk?

Hackers associated with the Mogilevich group claimed today that they have managed to access the systems of the renowned company Epic Games, responsible for the popular game Fortnite and its computer game distribution platform. According to the information released, the intruders managed to obtain about 190 gigabytes of data and threatened to sell this information if their demands are not met.

In response to the incident, Epic Games issued a brief statement stating that they are aware of the situation and are currently investigating the matter. So far, the company has not found any evidence that its servers have been compromised.

Details of the alleged attack indicate that the Mogilevich group gained access to a vast amount of sensitive information, including passwords, usernames, payment data, emails, among others.

The hackers stated that they are willing to sell this data to the highest bidder and have set a deadline for Epic Games to initiate negotiations, scheduled for March 4th. However, the amount demanded by the intruders has not been disclosed at this time.

It is important to emphasize that Epic Games has stressed that they are actively investigating the incident and have not found concrete evidence that there has indeed been a breach in their systems.

The company also mentioned that they have contacted the Mogilevich group to request evidence of the alleged attack, but have not yet received a response.

Despite the lack of definitive confirmation of the hack, security experts recommend that Fortnite users and Epic Games store users update their passwords as a preventive measure.
