Electronic games have gained prominence among Latin American residents, proving to be one of the most popular leisure activities in the region. A recent survey conducted by the renowned gaming peripherals brand, HyperX, revealed that an impressive 85% of Latinos aged 18 to 40 are avid gamers.
To achieve these results, 1,867 people within the mentioned age group were interviewed to understand their gaming habits and preferences. The results were surprising, highlighting that the vast majority of respondents (85%) dedicate some of their free time to video games.
An interesting fact is that 69.8% of participants stated a preference for PC as their primary gaming platform, debunking any predictions about the imminent demise of this gaming format.
In terms of preferred titles, the survey reveals that Fortnite leads with 15.7% preference, closely followed by League of Legends, with 12.6%, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, with 6.6%. These numbers are not surprising considering the immense popularity of these games on a global scale.
Another interesting finding is that 25% of respondents admitted to participating in some form of competitive gaming tournament. Even more notable is that a large majority (78.5%) aspire to become a professional gamer or to form their own eSports team.
Furthermore, the research indicates that a significant portion of respondents (78.5%) enjoy watching gaming-related content, especially live streams. Among streaming platforms, Twitch stands out as the favorite, being used by 54.6% of respondents.
